Christmas # 1

Image
With Christmas # 1 behind us, we can look forward to Christmas # 2 with Jeremy, Robin, Riven, Joshua, Kaleb, and those that celebrated Christmas # 1. We had a great time with D-Dad, Grandma, Aunt Jewel, Jonathan, Sharon, and me. We slept in a little longer than usual, ate breakfast, opened presents, celebrated our Lord Jesus's birth, talked with the Fredericksburg Thomas Clan, ate lunch, napped, ate desert, talked with the Olds, Canada Thomas Clan, ate dinner, ate desert, and played Imaginiff.... I won this time, beating Mom by 1 space and D-Dad and Grandma by 3 and 4 spaces respectfully. It was nip and tuck at the end with some difficult ?'s. Traditional Christmas dinner with barbecued brisket, ham, pinto beans, potato salad, coleslaw, homemade rolls and coconut pie and apple pie for desert. Mmmmmmmmm GOOD! Here we are after the game, see everybody's happy!!! Real happy, what's the matter Jonathan?

Band Banquet

Image
Last Saturday was the annual Band Banquet that is the culmination of the marching season. The directors give out awards (Most Outstanding Senior, Junior, etc, Bandsman of the Week, Etc), they recognize the Seniors , Drum Majors, Librairians, Section Leaders, etc, say all these nice things about our kids, you get my drift. Jonathan was selected as one of the Most Outstanding Seniors, Bandsman of the Week and of course Drum Major. Jonathan's dates for the evening Drum Majors Some may know that myself and Cory Noland had made a promise to the band that if they qualified for the State Finals, we would shave our heads ,probably not the smartest thing we've ever done, but we made the ...

Marching Band

Image
This fall has been a busy time for us. Jonathan is a Drum Major for his High School band, so every Friday night we are at the football game cheering on the band (and football team). This was a "State" year for marching band, so in October almost every Saturday was a day at an Invitational marching contest. Then there was the Regional Contest, they got a 1 and qualified for Area. At Area they qualified for the finals (top 7 bands out of 21). This is the first time in 10 years his high school band has made the finals at Area and this is the smallest band (100) that they have had that has made the finals. We were kinda proud to say the least even though they didn't qualify for the State finals. These pictures were taken at one of the Friday night games. What you will see are some of the 62 sets/formations that their show had this year. They only had 8 minutes to perform, so they were moving all the time from one st to another. Enjoy
